Returns & Refunds

Last updated October 19, 2026

Every Inkwell book is one of a kind — written from your answers and produced only for you. This policy explains what happens when something isn't right.

Before you approve

The studio gives you full control before anything is paid for: you can read the entire manuscript, request chapter-by-chapter revisions, and approve the exact cover and typeset pages. Because the content is confirmed by you at approval, a change of mind about the wording, cover or recipient is not a defect.

Digital editions

Digital editions (PDF) are delivered instantly and are non-refundable once downloaded, except where the file is faulty. If your PDF is corrupted, incomplete or won't open, contact us within 14 days and we will repair or regenerate it at no charge.

Printed books — defects and damage

Printed books are made to order, so we cannot accept returns for personal taste. We will absolutely make things right if your book arrives with a production or delivery problem. Contact us within 14 days of delivery for:

  • Printing defects — misprinted, blank or missing pages, blurred text or art.
  • Binding failures — loose, torn or detached pages, or a cracked cover.
  • Delivery damage — anything bent, crushed or water-damaged in transit (a photo helps us replace it faster).
  • The wrong book — if you receive someone else's order, we will reprint and reship yours immediately.

How to report a problem

Open your order in the My orders page and use "Report an issue", or email hello@inkwell.studio with your order or tracking number and a short description (a photo for physical damage). We reply within two business days.

Replacements and refunds

For confirmed defects we reprint and reship the book at our cost. If a reprint isn't possible — for example the project has been deleted — we refund the order in full, including shipping. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10 business days.

Cancelling an order

Printed orders enter production quickly. You can cancel for a full refund any time before the status shows "In production" — after that, the presses have started and the order can no longer be cancelled or refunded.
